Gearing Up For Trade Show Season

Are you ready for trade show season? Most large trade shows are in February, March, and April. This means right after businesses ring in the New Year, they need to begin preparing for trade show season. Here are some tips to help you have a successful exhibit.

1. Location, Location, Location
Most trade shows will offer “prime location” spots for an extra charge. It’s worth looking into if you are registering early enough. You will get more traffic to your booth, which may result in more customers. Sometimes all it takes is being the first option a potential customer sees.

2. The Look
Standing out from the rest of the crowd is obviously very important. You want people to stop and interact with you and your team, not just walk by. Make sure you are making your message clear by using optimum lighting, clear signs and images, and put real effort into your design. It’s also important to make sure your team looks excited, professional, and has enough material to give to interested customers.

3. Show Time
It’s a great idea to offer show only specials, so buyers purchase immediately in order to receive this one time discount. Offering snacks, drinks, and promotional material such as pens, bags or other gadgets is always helpful to attract more people. Holding a drawing to win a prize is another great way to gain some extra interaction time with show attendees.

From Shipping Container to You – The MODS Design Process

Have you wondered what goes into the process of creating a MODS unit? It all starts when a client researches and learns the benefits of using shipping containers to build their structure.  They will sit down with a MODS designer and discuss their ideas. The designer then uses that information to draw up a floor plan to further refine the design. Once the client approves the layout, a 3D model is made to help the client fully realize their dream.

Finally, within a few short weeks construction is finished and a brand new MODS is loaded on a truck and shipped anywhere in the world!

Have a dream? Let’s discuss it now!

The Growth of The Tiny House Movement

The Tiny House Movement

The tiny home trend is on the rise! More people are beginning to choose simplicity over space. The tiny home movement is gaining large interest due to its uniqueness and novelty, but for most buyers the real attractions are the reduced costs, the reduced environmental impact due to less electricity and fuel use, and the simpler lifestyle.

Forty years ago, the average size of new houses in the U.S. was 1,525 square feet. Today, the average size has grown to 2,598 square feet, despite a decline in household size. Due to the growing tiny home movement though, many new homes will be drastically downsized. Just a simple Google search for “The Tiny House Movement” brings up thousands of images of beautiful tiny homes as well as blogs, videos, and articles all focusing on tiny homes. There’s even a popular television series called Tiny House Nation that began airing in July 2014.

What Is a Tiny Home?
The typical tiny home is around 100-500 square feet.  They can come in various shapes, sizes, and forms, but the main focus is simpler living in a smaller space. Tiny houses emphasize design over size and utilize multipurpose furniture and space saving appliances. Vertical space optimization is also an extremely common feature. There are many benefits of the tiny home including: mobility, reduced carbon footprint, little or no debt due to the low cost, lower taxes, and decreased maintenance. Scaling down on home size may not be for everyone, but for many people it’s practical and an effective solution to their housing needs.

Tiny Home Example

The possibility of building one’s own home has fueled the movement, particularly for tiny houses on wheels. Tiny houses on wheels are often compared to RVs, but they are quite different. Tiny houses are built to last as long as traditional homes because the building techniques and materials are similar.

MODS Builds Tiny Homes

MODS Tiny Homes are built using conventional construction materials like plywood, dimensional lumber, insulation and standard windows and doors plus they have the added advantage of being encapsulated in a secure, hardened steel shell. They are also environmentally friendly, using shipping containers that might otherwise sit in a sea port storage yard, slowly rusting away. MODS inspects these units to check for any hazardous materials and applies a new coat of protective paint. We then outfit the interior and exterior for your desired configuration. MODS can also deliver and install to any location on the planet.

Though many people make tiny homes their main residence, you can also build them as a home office, guest house, cabin or even a great vacation home! If you are considering or are currently in the market for a tiny home, please contact us to find out how we can design and build it to your exact specifications. We can create any design. You dream it, we build it.

Lightning Arrested

Lightning can be frightening, consisting of one or more gigantic, insanely loud electrostatic discharges. As scientists and those who walk around in socks on carpet know, static electricity discharges can have a mind of their own along with painful if not deadly consequences. (trust me, back in the mid 1980’s I was hit indirectly while on the phone during a sudden thunderstorm in Altanta, GA…it’s not fun.)

One thing that can control static discharge is a grounded conductor, like a Faraday Cage. MODS outer shell and structural steel support framing, like your car, helps protect the interior from potentially deadly lightning strikes by instantly leading lightning away to ground. Watch this lightning video for a new level of respect for one of Mother Nature’s wonders.

Both the Lancair and Hartzell exhibits are fully climate controlled and feature a two story arrangement so visitors can get a birds eye view of the fly-in.  These buildings are very secure and virtually impervious to foul weather. The buildings also do a fantastic job of promoting the customer’s brand and image. MODS® International  handles all setup and offers storage options between trade shows.

See below for a gallery of photos from this years show and stop in to see these incredible portable buildings. Contact Us if you are interested in a custom exhibit for your product or brand.

MODS® International can build a wide variety of specialized housing and store front buildings that can be transported anywhere in the world. MODS® modular design approach allows even large structures, like the 1,600 square foot Hartzell Propeller exhibit made from five sea containers, to be disassembled and transported from show to show. These structures are rock solid and can handle weather that would tear a conventional tent structure to shreds. CONTACT US for more information.
