Super Typhoon Haiyan Ravages Central Philippines

The Central Philippines braces for the worst super typhoon of the season packing sustained winds of 174 mph, gusting to over 200 mph. Moving across heavily populated areas, Super Typhoon Haiyan (know as Yolanda in the Philippines) will affect millions of people including those located in areas hit by the recent 7.1 magnitude earthquake that killed 222, injured 1,000 and displaced 350,000 people.

While the recently displaced residents struggle with makeshift shelters, the super typhoon will bring along high winds, flash floods and landslides to the already desperate conditions.

It’s storms like this that prompted the development of MODS and that MODS housing is designed to best withstand. Set in place before the storm hits, MODS could save thousands of lives and provide comfortable shelter after the storm passes and the cleanup efforts begin.

Contact MODS International Today for information on preparing for the worst.

MODS housing units have many distinct advantages over flimsy trailer style housing. In extreme climate conditions, mods can be stacked to provide large open “garage” style work spaces protected from the elements. MODS are structurally far superior to trailer housing sometimes used by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

Using ultra strong seas containers as their core, the outer shell alone is capable of withstanding tons of water pressure from monstrous waves in the open ocean, pressures that would instantly shatter a trailer style housing unit.

At the end of the day, MODS units definitely win out in structural integrity, safety and comfort. Contact Us Today for a free price quote or to answer any questions you may have.

MODS® can be stacked up to seven units high and installed as above ground or earth shelter including fully buried “bunker” installations.

These sturdy units are the logical alternative to conventional mobile homes. MODS® provide improved protection from the elements, last longer and require less maintenance.

Three display units are open this week for EAA visitors, the exhibit is located approximately 500 feet to the left of the main entrance gate and are visible from the parking lot. Stop by to see the quality for yourself, or download a brochure for more information.

Recently, MODS® International designed and built a new type of unit – a multiple bathroom and shower unit.  These types of units can be used  for events where guests are staying overnight, camp grounds, or even during emergencies – such as forest fires or chemical spills where it is necessary for the responders to have the ability to take a shower.

This particular unit has a split design – one half for the men and one half for the women.  Both sides have two showers and two toilets, and the women’s side also has a double vanity with mirror.

These units are built to the same International Building Codes as our temporary living units.  They have slip-resistant flooring and towel hooks by each shower unit.  There is also a utility room built into the unit that contains the 85 gallon water heater, utility sink, and electrical panel.  Everything in the unit is electric, including the humidity control and baseboard heat – so you wouldn’t have to worry about taking a hot shower then stepping out into the cold air.  The lights in this unit are controlled by motion detectors with timers.  This unit was designed to be very energy efficient.

MODS® units are easily transportable.   All we needed to move the unit was a crane and a flatbed truck.  We can ship them wherever they are needed, and once they arrive, they can be hooked up to water, sewer, and electricity in under an hour.  This particular unit is on its way to Colorado, but we are ready to design and build one for you!
